Speaker Spotlight: Glenn Ansley

Glenn Ansley, WordCamp Raleigh SpeakerWe’re excited to announce another presentation for WordCamp Raleigh by Glenn Ansley, of FullThrottle Development based in Wake Forest, NC.

Session:

“Beyond wp-content: A technical overview of the WordPress Core”

WordPress is much more than a great blogging platform. In fact it’s a complex factory that literally constructs itself, produces its content, and tears itself back down with every page load. Thousands of functions, variables, and classes are contained within the core WordPress codebase.

This presentation will review the journey WordPress takes from the microsecond its loaded into the server’s memory to the microsecond it’s spit back out. Covered topics will include the WordPress file structure, hooks, invaluable classes at your disposal, and common misconception. All of this will be applied in a manner that helps WordPress developers most efficiently step outside of the wp-content folder and take advantage of the complete WordPress codebase.

This presentation will include a detailed overview of the core WordPress codebase with special emphasis given to plugin developers.

Bio:

Glenn is an owner and developer at FullThrottle Development. While technology has always been a hobby, it was not until 2006 that Glenn was first introduced to web design.

Glenn used WordPress to cut his teeth on PHP, MySQL, Javascript, CSS and anything else web related. He takes pride in the fact that he didn’t know what a template tag was three years ago (documented in the support forum) but now develops highly customized web applications and and plugins around the WordPress framework.
