Speaker Spotlight: Jonathan Davis of Ingenesis

Jonathan is the original author and lead developer of the Shopp e-commerce plugin for WordPress and founder of Ingenesis Limited. With almost 15 years of design and development on the web and he still can’t make up his mind whether he’s a designer or a developer. In 2005 he started using WordPress exclusively for his clients and never looked back.

Jonathan will be presenting on the topic of WordPress & E-commerce: Navigating the Minefield in the Power Users track.  Here’s an extract from what you can expect to hear from Jonathan:

 

This presentation provides an overview of the essential e-commerce concepts along with some basic tips for implementing an e-commerce website on WordPress. It includes discussion of payment gateways, how credit card processing really works, merchant accounts, SSL certificates, PCI compliance, basic WordPress security tips and a very brief review of popular e-commerce solutions for WordPress.

The goal of this talk is to arm you with the right information so you can make the best decisions and recommendations for e-commerce related projects. There won’t be time for demos, but there is plenty of time built-in for questions.

Doug started out on the Internet working professionally with his first web site project in 1997 for the Navigators. Since then he has worked on many professional and personal web design projects.
