{"id":1398,"date":"2016-09-23T15:18:07","date_gmt":"2016-09-23T19:18:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/2016.raleigh.wordcamp.org\/?p=1398"},"modified":"2016-09-23T15:18:07","modified_gmt":"2016-09-23T19:18:07","slug":"important-information-for-attendees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/raleigh.wordcamp.org\/2016\/important-information-for-attendees\/","title":{"rendered":"Important Information for Attendees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>WordCamp is almost here! \u00a0We&#8217;re looking forward to welcoming you tomorrow for a weekend of WordPress learning, networking and fun.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here are some important things to know about WordCamp and answers to some frequently asked questions. \u00a0Please take a minute to read this as it will help you get the most out of WordCamp.<\/p>\n<h2>Getting\u00a0To WordCamp:<\/h2>\n<p>WordCamp Raleigh is hosted by North Carolina State University College of Engineering on Centennial Campus. \u00a0You can find the address, directions, and a map here &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/2016.raleigh.wordcamp.org\/location\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/2016.raleigh.wordcamp.org\/location\/<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Parking:<\/h2>\n<p>We have plenty of parking in the decks on Partners Way which is adjacent to Engineering Building 1. \u00a0You can find a map here &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/2016.raleigh.wordcamp.org\/location\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/2016.raleigh.wordcamp.org\/location\/<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Finding WordCamp:<\/h2>\n<p>Once you arrive at Centennial Campus and the College of Engineering, make your way to the lawn\u00a0in the center of the three Engineering Buildings. \u00a0You will find signs directing you to Engineering Building 1.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important Note:<\/strong> If you&#8217;ve attended WordCamp Raleigh before, we are not in the same building as last year. We are now in Engineering Building 1. \u00a0There is a large entrance hallway where you will find registration, coffee, snacks, sponsor booths, and the Happiness Bar.<\/p>\n<p>You can find a map and photos of our new location here &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/2016.raleigh.wordcamp.org\/location\/getting-to-wordcamp-raleigh\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/2016.raleigh.wordcamp.org\/location\/getting-to-wordcamp-raleigh\/<\/a>. \u00a0The red star marks the entrance to EB1 where registration is located.<\/p>\n<h2>Registration:<\/h2>\n<p>Registration will open at 8:30am. \u00a0There will be someone at registration all day on Saturday in case you can&#8217;t make it in the morning.<\/p>\n<p>You <strong>do not<\/strong> need to bring your ticket. \u00a0We have a list of attendees and a badge for each attendee that registered prior to 12pm ET on Friday 23rd September. \u00a0Please give your name to the volunteer at registration and they will hand you your badge.<\/p>\n<h2>T-Shirts:<\/h2>\n<p>We will have t-shirts for all those who registered prior to the\u00a0cut off date last week. If you do not receive a t-shirt at registration, do not panic. \u00a0We will be ordering more t-shirts after WordCamp so you can get one after the event is over.<\/p>\n<p>If you need a different size t-shirt then please contact us\u00a0via the contact form here &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/2016.raleigh.wordcamp.org\/contact\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/2016.raleigh.wordcamp.org\/contact\/<\/a>. \u00a0We cannot give\u00a0you a different size t-shirt at registration but we will be ordering more t-shirts\u00a0after WordCamp so you can get one after the event is over.<\/p>\n<h2>Tracks and Sessions:<\/h2>\n<p>We get a lot of questions about whether you can switch tracks and sessions during the day. \u00a0The answer is yes. \u00a0You are free to move about between tracks and sessions as you like. \u00a0WordCamps are very informal. \u00a0Your attendee badge will have the schedule printed on the back. \u00a0Rooms will be clearly signed and there will be volunteers on hand to help you find a room.<\/p>\n<h2>Refreshments:<\/h2>\n<p>There will be water, coffee and snacks available during the breaks on both days. \u00a0You will find these in the main hallway where registration, sponsor booths and the Happiness Bar are located.<\/p>\n<h2>Lunch:<\/h2>\n<p>We provide a hot lunch included with\u00a0your ticket. \u00a0We are excited that this year lunch will be at On The Oval which is a large cafeteria\u00a0area on Centennial Campus across the lawn\u00a0from Engineering Building 1. \u00a0The menu will include Carolina BBQ as well as an Asian menu for both meat-lovers and vegans\/vegetarians. \u00a0We&#8217;re very grateful to NC State&#8217;s Dining Services for accommodating us.<\/p>\n<h2>WIFI:<\/h2>\n<p>NC State provides an NCSU Guest network with open access. \u00a0No password is required to connect. \u00a0If you have a problem connecting, please contact an organizer.<\/p>\n<p>As this is a University, you can expect lots of power outlets in each of the rooms for charging your phones, tablets and laptops.<\/p>\n<h2>Happiness Bar:<\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve never attended a WordCamp before, or never heard of the Happiness Bar, then this is a table where you will find volunteers willing to answer your questions about WordPress. \u00a0Whether it&#8217;s a technical issue or non-technical, someone will be willing to help.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve asked all of our speakers to spend a little time at the Happiness Bar to answer your questions. \u00a0The Happiness Bar will be located\u00a0in the main hallway where registration, sponsor booths and refreshments\u00a0are located.<\/p>\n<h2>Social Media:<\/h2>\n<p>We encourage you to Tweet and post on your social media. \u00a0Please use the hashtag #WCRaleigh. \u00a0You can find us on Twitter at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wordcampraleigh\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/wordcampraleigh<\/a> and on Facebook at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/WordCampRaleigh\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/WordCampRaleigh\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>After-Party:<\/h2>\n<p>The After-Party will be held on Saturday night at 7pm at The Raleigh Beer Garden which is located in downtown Raleigh. \u00a0The address is 614 Glenwood Avenue and their website is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theraleighbeergarden.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.theraleighbeergarden.com\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Media Policy:<\/h2>\n<p>All sessions are video recorded by a professional video company and will be uploaded to WordPress.tv at a later date. \u00a0There will also be a couple of photographers taking photos for use on this website, the WordCamp Central website and on our social media channels. \u00a0By attending this event, attendees agree to be photographed\/videoed and that the images\/content collected may be used to promote WordCamp.<\/p>\n<h2>Code of Conduct:<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The WordPress Foundation has a Code of Conduct that EVERYONE at WordCamp must follow so that the experience can be welcoming and non-threatening to all participants. The Foundation takes great pride that\u00a0those who are associated with WordPress are role models to admire and respect.
